Look at the most of us, we spend all the
day traveling to work, then the labour time, and back to home, sometimes the
trip home-office-home takes a long time.... back home the usual
dinner-shower-family (sometimes a bit too little of the latter) and then time
for nothing else but TV news and sleep until the next morning where everything
begin again... Saturday: shopping and settle the little things we couldn't set
during weekdays for lack of time.. Sunday: sleep longer, church (for the
believers) a bit more of family (finally) and in a flash is Monday again...
A bit depressing isn't it?
Too little time for family and friends and
here comes to save us the social networks, but what's a social network? Taking apart
some very useful features that helps news to be spread to a wide audience, I
can say that social is a surrogate of real friendship. Remember the movie
“Surrogates” with Bruce Willis Directed by Jonathan Mostow? That's is social
for you!
Call me old fashioned but I can't place the
social networks other than a surrogate for real human contact, why we have
socials and they are so popular? I'm not a specialist in psychology of the
masses but I think that the one of the main reasons because we put ourself into
social instead that cultivate real relationships with other humans is because
we have no time. Besides deal mostly with virtual people make us less and less
able to deal with real people, when we deal with a virtual person then the
image we have of that person is only the virtual one created by that person,
sometime completely fake, when we deal with a real person we see much more of
the real person and our counterpart have little space for “fake” his image to
us.
Many of you have tons of friends on the
social profile, it's easy to be friend today, cost just a click, that's mean
nothing, but try to ask for help, a single penny because you are in need, and
see how your popularity will drop in the “social”.
In this case the computer, thru the web,
supply a surrogate that help us to live better, but..... is a surrogate good
for our health? While nourishing ourself with surrogates aren't we forgetting
the taste of the real thing? The surrogate really nourish us or just make us
feel fed but as a matter of fact we are starving more and more?
I think that in today's society we are
getting this utterly wrong, I'm old fashioned so I say “f**k the bloody social
and get real, turn off your pc and go out and meet real people”.
“And what about the PC and the wellness stuff
you are writing about from sometimes?” you say..
Right, here I come... we got everything
wrong, think about you, and most of us... here is how your week should be:
Wake up in the morning... breakfast with
the family and take the kids to school... back to home, on the computer, log in
in your corporate system, you are at work now... the normal duties, take a
break, go to grocery shop, back home filling up forms, attend a virtual meeting…
have lunch (at home), take the kids back from school and so on all the day
mixing home-family-work duties without fixed office time and hours in traffic
jams... if you job permit you can meet friends and enjoy your family any time
you want and have your job done instead of watching that idiotic serial on TV
just after the news.
Saturday: do the bits and bobs for the
office you might neglect during the week, enjoy family and friends. Sunday:
church (for the believers) recollect your thought for the coming week, enjoy
your family and friends even more... and may be you find also time for some
hobby.
Etc.
This is how I see the computer REALLY can
help all of us live better (and by the way save the world).
More to come in the next posts......
